Seth McGill has 10 years of professional experience in the fields of power electronics engineering, product development, hardware design, and signals engineering. In 2021, they began working as the Director of Product Development and Sr Power Electronics Engineer at Phase Technologies. From 2011-2021, they were a Power Electronics Engineer at Trane. From 2010-2011, they were a Research Assistant Graduate Student at South Dakota State University, where they researched and developed small scale isolated power systems (microgrids) and developed system level controls, as well as aiding in hardware and firmware design. From 2007-2008, they were a Hardware Design Engineer at Daktronics, where they tested hardware with high-speed oscilloscope and other state of the art testing equipment, tested new firmware revisions on video displays, and provided input for the development on a new Texas Instruments IC for Daktronics use. From 2008-2009, they were a Signals Engineering Intern at Union Pacific Railroad, where they observed supervisors in managing projects, prepared and presented spreadsheets and slideshows to show trends in track data, and traveled to many different states to observe installation of on track systems.

Seth McGill obtained a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State University in 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State University in 2009. In 2016, they obtained a Professional Engineer (PE) certification from NCEES.
