Taira P. has worked in a variety of roles since 2012. At Washington College, they were a Writing Center Consultant. In 2014, they were a Maryland 400 Research Intern at ARCHIVES, MARYLAND STATE. In 2013, they were a Research and Curatorial Intern at the United States Naval Academy Musuem. In 2015, they were a Digital Curation Fellow at the National Agricultural Library, where they designed and curated a digital exhibit in Omeka, researched, managed image selection, and generated content. Taira also assisted in website migration and updated web content during the transition from NAL Core to Drupal 6. Additionally, they were an Archive and Curatorial Intern at The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and a Story Quest Project Manager at the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience, where they implemented a digital archive, managed digitized audio and visual materials of World War II veterans utilizing DSpace, supervised and trained student workers in records management, processing, and description, and created training manuals and documented workflows. Since 2016, they have been a Project Manager, Digital Asset & Web at the United States Naval Institute and a Digital Asset Specialist and Digital Asset Cataloger. In 2022, they became a Project Manager at Phase2.
Taira P. has an education history that includes a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Maryland from 2015 to 2017 and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History from Washington College from 2011 to 2015. Taira has also obtained three certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in September 2021, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute in February 2019, and Scrum Master Certified (SMC) from the Scrum Alliance in December 2019.
