Roman Stocker

Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at PhAST Diagnostics

Roman Stocker co-founded PhAST in 2017 and served as the Chief Scientific Officer. Prior to that, they worked as a Professor of Engineering at ETH Zurich starting in 2015. Before joining ETH Zurich, they held roles at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, including Professor of Engineering from 2005 to 2020 and Instructor in Applied Mathematics from 2002 to 2005.

Roman Stocker has a diverse education history. Roman pursued a High-school degree in Humanities/Humanistic Studies at Liceo Classico XXV Aprile from 1993 to 1998. During the same period, they also completed their B. Eng. and M.Eng. in Civil Engineering at Università degli Studi di Padova. Roman then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from 1998 to 2002, also at Università degli Studi di Padova. In 2000, they took the opportunity to enhance their doctoral studies by becoming a Visiting PhD Student at The University of Western Australia, though the specific field of study is not mentioned. Following their Ph.D., they furthered their academic career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2002 to 2005, where they worked as a Postdoc and Instructor in the field of Mathematics.
