Sonya Bishop is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in high-stakes litigation, employment law, environmental issues, and regulatory matters. Currently serving as Deputy General Counsel at Phillips 66 since May 2012, Sonya effectively leads a team of lawyers and outside counsel to manage legal functions for a Fortune 50 company, demonstrating strong collaborative leadership and risk mitigation skills. Previously, in various roles at ConocoPhillips, including Managing Counsel and Lead Counsel, Sonya honed expertise in tort, employment, and environmental litigation. Sonya began a legal career at Vinson & Elkins as a Senior Counsel and Associate. An alumna of Rice University with a Bachelor's degree in Business/Managerial Economics, Political Science, and Policy Studies, Sonya also holds a Doctor of Law degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
