When founder Mary Philpotts McGrath began her design business in the 1960s, her goal was to give Hawaii’s newly constructed buildings and residences a “sense of place.” This meant reinterpreting the culture and color of the islands in a changing environment. 

Today, principals Marion Philpotts-Miller, Lowell Tom, and Holly Boling Ruiz along with the other Philpotts designers, continue to move the company forward. The spaces they shape blend both cultural and natural elements to create an international style of design. Indoors and outdoors mesh seamlessly to form a complete and cohesive contemporary environment.
