Jade Macfarlane

Jade Macfarlane has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Jade is currently working as a Senior UX/UI Designer at Phlo since November 2021. Previously, Jade worked as a Freelance Designer at Jade Macfarlane Design (formerly Biko) since September 2010, where they provided creative and advice consultations to small businesses, including branding, website creation, UX copywriting, and various design services.

Prior to that, Jade held multiple roles at MadeBrave®, starting as a Graphic Designer from June 2014 to February 2016, where they worked on brand, campaign, editorial design, packaging, and print projects. Later, they became a Senior Designer from February 2016 to August 2020, responsible for creating design systems, developing the MadeBrave® brand and guidelines, and leading projects in brand, UX/UI design, campaign, art direction, packaging, and print. Furthermore, Jade served as the UX Design Lead from May 2020 to October 2021, focusing on usability, conducting user testing and UX research, and providing creative direction for UI projects.

Jade's professional journey also includes experiences at Premier Housewares, where they served as a Senior Designer and Department Head from March 2014 to June 2014, overseeing a team of five designers and managing department operations. Jade also worked as a Middleweight Graphic Designer from August 2013 to March 2014, leading branding and packaging projects and providing training to junior designers. Before that, Jade was a Junior Graphic Designer at Premier Housewares from June 2012 to August 2013, working on own-brand artworks, packaging designs, and product image retouching.

Jade began their career at Wizard of Paws as a Graphic Designer, initially starting as a store assistant and progressing to team leader and In-House Graphic Designer. Jade worked there from August 2007 to January 2014, gaining valuable experience in design project management both as an employee and later as a freelance designer.

Jade also had work placements at Mongomery Litho Group and Freight Design in 2012, where they gained insights into design agencies, typesetting, and independent publishing. Furthermore, they had a work placement at 999 Design in April 2011.

Jade Macfarlane pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with a period from 2008 to 2009 when they attended Cardonald College. During this time, they earned a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Media and Communication. Following that, in the years 2009 to 2011, Jade continued their studies at Cardonald College and completed their Higher National Diploma (HND) in Visual Communication for Print & New Media. Lastly, from 2011 to 2013, Jade attended the University of the West of Scotland, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a focus on Graphic Design.
