Ian Hu, PhD has a diverse work background. Ian is currently the Co-Founder of Phycobloom, a position they have held since November 2019. Prior to this, they worked as an Entrepreneur at Entrepreneur First starting in September 2019. From October 2015 to October 2019, Ian was a PhD Student at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge where their research focused on nucleosome-independent permanently condensed liquid crystalline chromosomes in dinoflagellates and genetic modification methods for these organisms. Ian also co-founded Ceres Agriculture Development Group in May 2015, where they worked until October 2016. Before that, they served as a Research Assistant at National Taiwan University from August 2013 to June 2015. Ian began their career as an Intern at NTU plant pathology and microbiology from 2009 to June 2013, followed by another internship at the University of Melbourne from October 2010 to July 2011.
Ian Hu, PhD pursued their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Plant Pathology and Microbiology at National Taiwan University from 2007 to 2012. In 2010, they participated in an exchange program at the University of Melbourne. Later, they enrolled at National Taiwan University once again, completing their BSc in Plant Pathology/Phytopathology from 2007 to 2011. Ian went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge between 2015 and 2018.
