Max Meier

Advisor at PI Financial

A Co-Founder of the company, Max had been the Chair & Chief Executive Officer of PI Financial Corp. for 35 years, until the sale of the company in 2018.

Max remains with PI Financial Corp. in his capacity as Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager. He has been continuously advising individual and corporate clients.

Born, raised and educated in Switzerland, he graduated from the KV Zürich Business School in 1965. After working five years as an accountant in Geneva and a banker in Zürich, he immigrated to Canada in 1970. A 10-year career with CIBC, both in Montreal and Vancouver, preceded his move to the securities industry in 1980.

Max was a Governor of the Vancouver Stock Exchange for ten years, the last four of which he held the position of Vice Chair. In that capacity, Max also served as a Governor of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund. He is also a former Director of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada, the Canadian Securities Institute, The Vancouver International Financial Centre, the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Alpine Canada.

For the last 12 years, Max has been working in a successful partnership with his son-in law, Matthew Wacker, who is also a Portfolio Manager.

When not working, Max enjoys skiing with his four grandchildren. He gives generously to such charities as United Way, St. Pauls’ Hospital Foundation, Whistler Community Services as well as, amateur sports organizations.
