Laurence James has worked in a variety of roles in the corporate and educational sectors since 2010. In 2010, they were an Academic Training Manager at Languages Training and Development, where they were responsible for interviewing, assessing NVQs, writing materials and schemes of work, organizing speakers and activities and finding employment for learners. Laurence was also an ESOL and TESOL Tutor, assisting with the delivery of the Trinity Cert. TESOL, delivery of ESOL classes and examining ESOL exams. In 2011, they Co-Founded and was the Training Manager of TalkEasy Taiwan, a training centre delivering corporate training, exams preparation and young learner training. Laurence managed and professionally developed a team of trainers to deliver needs based training and provide excellent customer service. In 2013, they began working at the British Council, where they held three roles: Academic Training Manager, People Operations Manager, and Learning & Development Manager. In 2019, they began working at NextGen Corporate Language Training as a Senior BD & L&D Manager, helping organisations future-proof their workforce through blended learning and developing 21st century skills. Laurence also held a role as Organisation & People Development Committee Chair at the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei. Currently, Laurence James is a People Operations Specialist and Company & People Operations Consultant at PicCollage.

Laurence James has an extensive educational background, beginning with a degree in French and German Studies from Oxford Brookes University in 2004-2008. Laurence then went on to study at the University of Cologne, Germany, and University of Provence, France, in 2005-2006. In 2009, they obtained a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Level 5) from Trinity College London. Laurence then obtained a Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Level 7) from Trinity College London in 2011. In 2014-2015, they completed a Diploma in ELT Management Skills from International House London. In 2016, they obtained a Certificate in International Business English Training from Trinity College London. In 2018, they obtained a Young Learner Centre Management degree from International House. Finally, in 2021-2022, they are currently enrolled in a CIPD Level 5 Organisational Learning & Development program at Avado.
