Ke Zhang has a diverse work experience, starting in 2007 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at UC Santa Cruz. This was followed by a role as a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 2010 to 2012.
In 2013, Zhang joined AppFolio, Inc. and held several roles over the course of six years. As a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead, Zhang worked on software development, re-architecting the application backend, and building various services and tools using AWS technologies. They were also responsible for maintaining cloud infrastructure, implementing continuous deployment, and overseeing the code release process. Zhang continued in this role until 2019 when they transitioned to a Staff Software Engineer and Tech Lead role, focusing on cloud infrastructure and site reliability. In this position, Zhang led and supported a team in designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure in AWS, as well as supporting continuous team growth and technical escalations.
From 2020 to 2021, Zhang worked as a Staff Software Engineer and Tech Lead at MyCase, where they continued to contribute to cloud infrastructure and site reliability. They also served as a tech lead and mentor, supporting the team in designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructures, CI/CD pipelines, and internal tools.
In 2021, Zhang joined Turing AI as a Staff Software Engineer, where they created an infrastructure-as-code framework, built a centralized logging system, and implemented a monitoring system and on-call policies to improve site reliability.
Most recently, in 2022, Zhang joined PickTrace as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer. No additional information about this position is available.
Ke Zhang attended the University of Science and Technology of China from 1995 to 2000, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Earth Science. Subsequently, they pursued further education at the University of Maryland from 2000 to 2007. At the University of Maryland, Ke Zhang earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Astronomy.
