Gabe Spalding

Gabe Spalding is the Ames Professor of Physics at Illinois Wesleyan University, where they have been teaching since 1996. A respected figure in the field, Gabe is a fellow of three professional societies and a Senior Member of IEEE, having delivered numerous invited talks and published extensively on electrical and optical topics. They have played a pivotal role in advancing instructional labs in physics, including the dissemination of single-photon detectors and mentorship through NSF DUE grants. Serving as Vice President of the Jonathan F. Reichert Foundation and actively involved with the American Association of Physics Teachers, Gabe continues to impact physics education on a national and global scale. Currently, they lead the advisory group on Photonics and are also guiding faculty staff in integrating advanced optics into teaching.
