Pilot Prodigies was founded by Makayla Galler, who recognized that many traditional high schools lacked the resources and programs to support students interested in aviation and STEM. Determined to find her own path, she became involved with Wings Over the Rockies, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and Women in Aviation, where she discovered a thriving community of mentors and opportunities. Through these experiences, Makayla realized that many students and parents were unaware these programs existed. Driven to change that, she began bringing aviation and STEM directly into schools, giving students the chance to explore new possibilities, learn about opportunities beyond the classroom, connect with mentors, and share what they discovered with their families.

Makayla recruited high school and college pilots, drone pilots, and engineers who are close to the students’ age and serve as real-world examples of how young people can get involved in aviation today. These speakers share their experiences and journeys, both the rewarding moments and the challenges, showing students that every path in aviation begins with curiosity and persistence. Their stories make the dream of flight tangible and achievable, proving that opportunities to start in aviation exist now for those willing to take the first step.

Built on the belief that hands-on experiences create lasting curiosity, Pilot Prodigies introduces students to aviation and STEM through workshops, mentorship, and real-world learning. From gliders to drones, and from classrooms to flight lines, the program blends traditional aviation with modern innovation. Through flight demonstrations, drone workshops, speaker series, and community STEM initiatives, Pilot Prodigies makes aviation accessible, engaging, and inspiring for every student.

At its core, Pilot Prodigies is about more than education. It is about discovery. Pilot Prodigies is shaping a future where the sky is not the limit, it is just the beginning.
