Eric Smith

Mr. Smith is General Counsel and responsible for the firm’s legal matters worldwide. Mr. Smith joined the firm in 2014, leading legal coverage of the firm’s private equity, private credit and alternative investments businesses managed from the Americas, and working closely with the firm’s legal counsel in Europe, Middle East and Asia to provide support for regional alternative investment initiatives. Mr. Smith has over 20 years of experience in asset management, private equity, mergers and acquisitions and cross-border transactions. Prior to joining the firm, he served as General Counsel to an India-focused real estate and private equity fund manager with approximately $2 billion in capital commitments. He began his career in the Corporate Department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Mr. Smith received a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School.
