Samuel Karnes has a varied work experience. Samuel began their career in 2011, working as a Pharmacy Tech/Cashier at Wakefield Prescription, where they obtained their pharmacy technician license and assisted in filling prescriptions while abiding by HIPAA regulations. Samuel also organized stock in the store and worked at the register. In 2013, they took a job as a Line Cook at Phils Diner. In 2016, they joined the University of Rhode Island as an Italian IEP Ambassador, assisting students with documentation and questions in regards to the Italian international engineering program at URI, as well as organizing meetings to review documentation. Since 2017, they have been employed as a Senior Biomedical Engineer at Pison, where they have been performing biopotential data analysis, testing and prototyping hardware improvements for product focused requirements, and writing/reviewing technical sections for federal grant applications and technical reports.
Samuel Karnes attended the University of Rhode Island from 2012 to 2017, studying Biomedical/Medical Engineering, Italian Language and Literature, and Spanish Language and Literature. Samuel obtained certifications in Introduction to Data Science in Python from Coursera in May 2021, Human Subject Research from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative in 2020, and Human Subject Research from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative in 2016.
