Lior Phillips is an accomplished writer and author with extensive experience in music journalism and popular culture. Currently, Lior serves as a writer for The New York Times, as well as contributing to various platforms including The Recording Academy, The Creative Independent, Guardian News & Media, Pitchfork, Variety, Dazed & Confused, and The Quietus. Lior authored the 33 1/3 book on South African Popular Music, highlighting the historical significance of music in South Africa's fight for freedom. Additionally, Lior is the host and creator of the 'This Must Be the Gig' podcast, which provides backstage access to music fans. Lior holds a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the AAA School of Advertising.
