Mike Rohde

Mike Rohde has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several companies and roles. Mike is currently working at PKWARE as a Principal User Experience Designer. Prior to that, they were the Owner and Founder of Rohdesign Studios LLC. Mike also worked at Johnson Controls as a Principal User Experience Designer + Visualizer.

Before their time at Johnson Controls, Mike served as a Senior User Experience Designer at Gomoll Research + Design, Inc. (GRD), where they designed user interfaces and experiences for various software, hardware, and websites. Additionally, they provided sketchnoting, illustration, and visual thinking services to clients such as Northwestern Mutual Insurance, GE Healthcare, and WE Energies.

During their contract period, Mike worked as a Senior User Experience Designer at Northwestern Mutual. Mike collaborated with colleagues across the organization to develop design solutions and facilitated whiteboarding sessions to visualize software and business requirements.

Mike's early career includes roles as a Senior Designer at Hare Strigenz, Inc., where they designed various corporate identities, print materials, and websites. Mike started their career as a Student Designer at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where they designed logos, brochures, and print materials for internal clients, as well as graphics for television shows.

Mike Rohde has a diverse educational background. Mike attended Milwaukee Area Technical College from 1986 to 1989 and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Design, Commercial Arts, and Printing. In 2014, they completed the Professional Scrum Master 1 certification program at Scrum.org, focusing on Agile Scrum methodologies. Recently, in 2021, Mike Rohde enrolled in IDEO U to pursue a degree in Human-Centered Service Design, with a specific focus on Service Design. Additionally, they attended a Smart Interface Design Patterns workshop offered by Smashing Magazine and obtained certification in November 2021. This workshop further enhanced their knowledge and skills in UX Design, complementing their educational trajectory.
