The Place Finance Lab is a financial innovation layer for regional food systems in Europe and the UK. The Lab surfaces regional food system financing needs and co-designs and develops investments, together with regional partners and local stakeholders, to unlock the right type of capital for the right project.

Incubated at Climate KIC, the Place Finance Lab is launching with initial pilots in Devon and Cornwall in South West England, and Cork and Tipperary in Ireland. Our work in these regions highlights both the vital local food systems transformation underway, and the financing needs to build regional resilience through food economies.

We are targeting three strategic themes to support thriving regional food economies: local infrastructure for regional food systems, collaborative landscape transition, and generational renewal.

These are themes the Place Finance Lab is committed to addressing by co-designing collaborative ownership structures and innovative financing solutions with regional partners.
