Fiona McFarlane

Director For Scotland

Fiona McFarlane currently serves as the Director for Scotland at Place2Be, a position held since March 2024. Prior to this role, Fiona was the Head of Public Affairs at The Promise Scotland from July 2020 to March 2024, and before that, Fiona worked as the Policy and Framework Lead for the Independent Care Review between May 2019 and July 2020. Fiona's legal career includes significant experience as a Senior Disciplinary Lawyer and Case Manager at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries from December 2013 to May 2019. Fiona has also worked at Save the Children UK as a Policy Adviser, focusing on legal policy related to children's rights, and served as a barrister for Just for Kids Law and 15 New Bridge Street, representing young people and working on various criminal cases. Fiona began a career in policy as the Policy and Parliamentary Affairs Manager at Capability Scotland from June 2003 to April 2004. Fiona holds degrees in History & Politics from The University of Edinburgh and law qualifications from City University and the Inns of Court School of Law.
