Plakar is a modern data protection solution focused on what remains the most critical line of defense for businesses: backups.
At the core of Plakar is a new data engine called Kloset, a purpose-built technology designed to rethink how data is captured, stored, and recovered. Kloset makes data inherently easy to deduplicate, replicate, and distribute across multiple storage targets, with an architecture that is Exabyte-ready by design. It is also built to meet the highest security standards, ensuring integrity and confidentiality across the entire data lifecycle.

Plakar is built for environments with strict constraints, including highly regulated industries and long-term data retention needs, where reliability, resilience, and cost control are critical. At the same time, it remains simple and efficient for everyday operations. It significantly reduces cloud or infrastructure costs, defends against ransomware, and enables rapid recovery. Its efficient deduplication allows organizations to retain more backups over longer periods at very low cost, while reducing recovery time objectives.

Plakar supports a wide range of storage backends such as local disks, S3-compatible services, and even tape. It integrates naturally into modern infrastructure thanks to its open source foundation and DevOps-friendly design.

We believe data protection should be effortless, secure, and economically sustainable. Plakar sets a new standard for long-term, high-integrity data resilience.
