Donny Pearson is a physicist with a focus on quantum memory and rare-earth atoms in solids. Pearson has extensive research experience, including a Graduate Research Assistant position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from January 2020 to September 2025, where work involved addressing inhomogeneous broadening in rare-earth doped systems. Prior to this, Pearson held the same role at the Joint Quantum Institute from May 2018 to January 2020, engaging in similar research. Pearson also has experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Clark University in both chemistry and physics, contributing to projects involving external adapter design for NMR probes and imaging Copper II Oxide nanocubes using advanced microscopy techniques. Pearson is currently employed as a Quantum Hardware Engineer at planqc since September 2025. Pearson earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign between 2019 and 2025.
