Alan Barry has worked in the engineering and biomedical health and life-science capital projects industries since 1999. Theircareer began at Centocor as a Project Engineer, where they had increasing responsibility up to Cleaning Validation Study Director. In 2001, they moved to Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals as a Senior Process Engineer/Lead Site Engineer, where they were the system owner for the installation phase and led the commissioning phase up to handover to the Validation group. In 2003, they joined Wyeth Biotech as a Project Engineering Manager, where they were responsible for the design and testing of a US$400M Vial Fill/Finish facility. In 2005, they worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as an Implementation Project Manager, where they were responsible for Construction, Commissioning, Qualification, and Handover of two Pharmaceutical Production Facilities. In 2008, they joined Pfizer as a C&Q Manager. In 2006, they founded SysComm, a company that enables Client-side teams in delivering their Biomedical Health & Life-Science capital projects. In 2017, Alan founded PlasmaBound, a company that has developed a step-change solution for non-metallic load-bearing and structural assemblies.

Alan Barry completed a Certificate in Project Leadership at Cornell University from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Chemical degree from Munster Technological University between 1994 and 1997, with a field of study in Process Eng. & Clean Technology. Before that, they obtained an MEng Proc Eng & Fuel Tech degree from The University of Sheffield between 1991 and 1994, with a field of study in Process Eng. & Fuel Technology.
