Jonathan Thon

Jonathan Thon has been involved in the biotechnology industry since 2008. Jonathan began their career as an Instructor and Assistant Professor at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where they conducted research on developing biomimetic, microfluidic platforms to generate functional platelets and new therapies for thrombocytopenia. Jonathan also founded Factual Footage Inc. and served as its Founder, Director, and Science Consultant. In 2014, they founded Platelet BioGenesis, a biotechnology company based on science they co-developed at Harvard Medical School, and served as its Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Executive Officer. In 2019, they founded STRM.BIO and served as its Founder and Chief Executive Officer. In 2020, they became a Scientific Advisor for Ichosia Biotechnology, Inc.

Jonathan Thon's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The University of British Columbia between 2004 and 2008. Jonathan also holds an Honors Bachelors of Science in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering from McMaster University, which they obtained between 2000 and 2004. In 2011, Jonathan completed a Certificate in Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials from Harvard Medical School, as well as a Certificate in Analytical and Quantitative Light Microscopy from the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Healthcare Innovation and Commercialization from Harvard Medical School in 2012. In 2013, Jonathan participated in the Harvard Innovation Lab Incubator at Harvard University. In 2014, they completed Incubator programs at MassCONNECT and MassChallenge in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies. Finally, Jonathan participated in the NIH Commercialization Accelerator Program for Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies between 2016 and 2017.
