Plato Limpio is a Spanish impact startup that combines technology, education, and data to reduce food waste in school canteens. Our mission is to make food waste visible, measurable, and actionable — turning every meal into an opportunity to learn and improve. We offer a digital platform that allows schools and catering companies to measure, analyze, and reduce food waste in real time. Using data collected through smart scales or the web app reducefoodwaste.io, we generate insights on CO₂ emissions, economic losses, and behavioral patterns. The results are displayed on dashboards that help kitchens, teachers, and students make better decisions about food planning and consumption. Plato Limpio stands out for its triple impact approach: Environmental: less waste means fewer emissions and resources saved. Social: we educate children, teachers, and families to value food and prevent waste at home. Economic: we help schools and caterers save money by optimizing menus and portions. Our methodology integrates data measurement with awareness programs, gamified challenges, and training for kitchen staff. Each implementation becomes a shared experience that improves teamwork, efficiency, and sustainability.

Plato Limpio aligns with the UN SDG 12.3 (halving food waste by 2030) and with Spain’s Food Waste Prevention Law 1/2025. Our vision is to build a network of conscious schools across Europe, proving that small daily actions can drive big systemic change.
