William Emfinger has held a variety of positions in the engineering field since 2011. In that year, they began working as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, where they were the faculty advisor to the Vanderbilt Aerospace Design Lab (VADL). William's roles included systems engineering, electrical and software engineering, and physical dynamics. In 2016, they became Chief Technology Officer at Max Mobility, LLC, where they developed new products to help people in wheelchairs. William's roles included wireless communications, inertial measurement, data analytics, machine learning, and control systems. In 2018, they became Director of R&D at Permobil, where they were responsible for expanding the product portfolio to encompass connected wearables and controllers. William also built a state of the art research lab for connected smart systems. In 2022, they began working as a Systems Engineer at Backbone.
William Emfinger received a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering and Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2011, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2015.
