Harshana Weerasinghe

Harshana Weerasinghe has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. They are currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Plexure since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Gallagher as a Software Engineer from 2018 to 2022, where they were part of the R&D Team. At Ferret Software Limited, they worked as a Software Developer for a short period in 2018, focusing on software integration projects.

From 2011 to 2018, Harshana worked at Pearson in various roles. They started as a Software Engineer - Technical Specialist / Full Stack Developer, where they contributed to the development of complex software applications using C#, Java, JavaScript, and other technologies. They later progressed to the role of Principal Software Engineer, where they worked on platform/product level solutions and provided technical leadership for cloud-based eLearning SaaS platform.

In 2015, Harshana co-founded akura.org, a non-profit organization in Sri Lanka focused on empowering school children through various programs and initiatives. From 2008 to 2011, they worked at Programus Lanka as a Software Engineer, developing web, mobile, and Windows-based software applications. They also worked as a System/Network Administrator at Gamage Motors from 2008 to 2011.

Their career in software engineering started at OpenArc Systems Management (Pvt) Ltd. in 2006, where they worked as a Programmer - Senior Programmer, primarily focusing on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining web, mobile, and Windows-based ERP software solutions.

Harshana Weerasinghe's education history is as follows:

Harshana Weerasinghe attended Paynter Memorial School from 1997 to 2002, where they completed their GCE O/L degree with a focus on all subjects.

After completing their GCE O/L, they enrolled at Sri Rahula College, Katugastota from 2003 to 2005. During this time, they pursued a G.C.E A/L degree with a focus on Accounts, Economics, and Business Studies.

In 2005, Harshana Weerasinghe attended the University of Colombo and pursued a Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) degree with a specialization in Information Technology. They completed their degree in 2012.

During the same period in 2005 to 2006, Harshana Weerasinghe also attended OpenArc Computer School, Nugegoda. They obtained a Diploma in Computer Science (DCS) from this institution.

Additionally, in 2005 to 2006, Harshana Weerasinghe enrolled at The Institute of Chartered Accountants to pursue an ICASL degree focused on Accounts.

In terms of additional certifications, Harshana Weerasinghe acquired the following:

- In November 2007, they obtained the certification of MCTS: .Net Framework 2.0, Web Applications from Microsoft.

- In January 2017, they obtained the MS: Architecting Microsoft Azure Solutions certification from Microsoft.

- Also in January 2017, they acquired the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification from Amazon Web Services.
