PLOT 22 is an award winning community allotment in Hove. It was established 13 years ago and has steadily grown. As a registered charity it is funded through grants and donations. The allotment is staffed by volunteers and some paid members of staff. It provides volunteering opportunites for all sorts of people, including those with health issues, the elderly and very young. It is a supportive, non-judgemental space, and helps many people recovering from illness, experiencing isolation and loneliness, to connect with others, cook freshly grown produce together over a communal lunch, and to benefit from being in nature. People learn horticulture and gardening skills. Plot22 is open all year round, with many community groups also using the site for sessions and workshops.
