Director Of Product Management, Electrolyzers at Plug Power

Derek Hildreth has a diverse work experience in the field of fuel cell technology and engineering. Derek currently holds the position of Director of Product Management, Electrolyzers at Plug Power since June 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Director, Applications Engineering, Electrolyzers at the same company from August 2021 to June 2022.

Before joining Plug Power, Derek had an extensive tenure at Doosan Fuel Cell America, Inc. Derek held the role of Head Of Business Development from an unspecified date to August 2021. In this position, they were responsible for creating and implementing the Doosan Energy Service (DES) guaranteed savings PPA in partnership with Wells Fargo and Doosan Energy Solutions America. Derek led various business development activities and developed internal financing structures for fuel cell projects. In these roles, they played a key role in developing fuel cell distributed co-generation projects and worked closely with sales teams and customers to integrate fuel cells into potential sites.

Derek started their career as a Mechanical Design Engineering Lead at UTC Power from June 2004 to October 2010, where they supported the Model 400 Purecell System and was responsible for conceptual design and calculating customer value proposition. Prior to that, they were a Mechanical Design Engineer and Team Lead at HydrogenSource from June 2001 to June 2004 and UTC Power from June 1998 to June 2001.

Derek'searly experience includes working as an Engineering Intern at Verizon from May 1996 to September 1997. Throughout their career, Derek has demonstrated expertise in fuel cell technology, project development, applications engineering, and mechanical design.

Derek Hildreth has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which they obtained between 1994 and 1998. In 2010 and 2011, they earned a Certificate of Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, specializing in Systems Engineering. Additionally, in November 2012, Derek obtained a certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) from the Association of Energy Engineers.
