Ben Olsen

Ben Olsen has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Ben is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Pluto TV, where they maintain a critical Node.js backend for streaming content and also leads and assists other developers. Prior to this, they worked at Podium as a Senior Software Engineer, using Elixir and JS/React as a full-stack developer to develop products that improve business-customer connections and overseeing architectural decisions. Ben also has experience at Verizon Media, where they were a Senior Software Engineer on the Uplynk Video engineering team, specializing in manifest customization, Server-Side Ad Insertion, and handling beaconing for ad views. Ben has also worked at EchoStar Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed internal web-based service tools and transitioned to a DevOps role, coordinating with the Ops group for infrastructure automation. Ben has experience as an ERP Developer at ImSAR, LLC, where they created and maintained DCAA compliant timekeeping and inventory systems. Ben also worked as a Senior Back-end Developer at Neutron Interactive, where they developed a Django application connecting candidates to higher-level education programs, replacing a legacy system. Prior to that, Ben was a Manager of Migration Services at Verio, overseeing a team that developed and executed custom-written data migration tools primarily using Python. Ben also worked as a Developer at Powercode, LLC, maintaining and extending functionality for a wireless ISP billing system. Starting their career at Wahoo Studios, Ben worked as a Designer.

Ben Olsen earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University, completing their studies from 1996 to 2001.
