Derek Chang

Derek Chang has a varied and extensive work experience spanning different companies and roles. Derek most recently served as the VP of Engineering, Backend Services at Pluto TV since November 2021. Prior to that, they were the VP of Engineering at Firstleaf from November 2020 to November 2021. From June 2018 to November 2020, Derek held the position of VP of Technology at SnackNation.

Before that, Derek worked at Leaf Group for many years, where they held several positions. Derek was the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Saatchi Art from July 2017 to June 2018, the Director of Software Engineering at Society6 from August 2013 to July 2017, the Software Engineering Manager at eHow.com from August 2012 to August 2013, and the Lead Software Engineer at eHow.com from January 2010 to July 2012.

Prior to Leaf Group, Derek worked at Myspace as a Lead Software Engineer from March 2008 to January 2010 and as a Senior Software Engineer from September 2006 to February 2008. Derek also worked at Bank of America as a Software Engineer from September 2005 to September 2006.

Derek's early work experience includes working as a Java Developer at AmericanTours International, LLC from August 2003 to September 2005 and as a Software Engineer at Informative Research from May 2002 to July 2003. Overall, Derek has a strong background in engineering and leadership roles, with expertise in backend services and technology management.

Derek Chang earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UC San Diego in 2002.
