Tarek Ghobar

Tarek Ghobar has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Tarek is currently the Co-Founder of paymennt.com, where they focus on giving micro and small businesses access to online payments quickly and securely. Prior to this, Tarek worked as a Regional Director at Union, where they were responsible for the growth of the company across MENA and Europe, working with accelerators and incubators to drive engagement and improve cohort results. Before that, they served as a Startup Manager at 1776, overseeing the startup portfolio in the Dubai campus and providing support for their accelerated growth. Tarek also has experience in the online food ordering marketplace, having worked as the Managing Director of hellofood KSA at foodpanda, where they were responsible for all aspects of the online business in KSA. Tarek also held the position of Head of Sales Middle East at Rocket Internet ME for hellofood, where they led the expansion and rollout across five countries and achieved significant sales growth. Tarek has also founded and organized FailCon NL, a startup failure conference in the Netherlands, and has been involved as a co-founder and shareholder in LeQuest, a startup specializing in interactive online training tools for medical equipment users. Tarek began their career as a Co-founder and Managing Director of IcySolutions, a tech startup focused on cold therapy for professional athletes. Tarek has also worked at TU Delft as a Faculty Program Assistant and at Sendori as a Business Development Intern in Silicon Valley.

Tarek Ghobar's education history begins in 1999 when they attended UWC Red Cross Nordic. Tarek pursued an International Baccalaureate degree from 1999 to 2001. After completing their degree, Tarek went on to study at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) from 2001 to 2004, majoring in Avionics Engineering and earning a BSc degree. Finally, from 2004 to 2007, Tarek attended Delft University of Technology where they focused on Aerospace Engineering and obtained their BSc degree.
