Jens Groot

Jens Groot is a seasoned professional in battery systems with extensive experience in the automotive sector. Currently serving as Chief Engineer Battery System at Polestar since February 2022, Jens previously held the position of Senior Strategic Battery Architect at Volvo Cars from January 2021 to February 2022. Prior to that, Jens worked at Volvo Group Trucks Technology as an ESS Specialist from October 2003 to January 2021, focusing on testing, modeling, and evaluating energy storage technologies, particularly Li-ion batteries. Jens's academic background includes a PhD from Chalmers University of Technology, where research centered on Li-ion battery lifetime prediction and modeling, supported by collaborations with major companies and institutions. Additionally, Jens holds a Licentiate degree in the aging of Li-ion batteries and an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics from the same university.
