Toby Eckert

Toby Eckert is an accomplished journalist and editor with extensive experience in political and fiscal policy coverage. Currently serving as Tax Editor at POLITICO since May 2015, Toby oversees tax policy content for a subscription service targeting influential political figures. Prior to this role, Toby worked as Senior State Fiscal Policy Editor at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where responsibilities included editing various policy documents and collaborating with state policy groups. Toby's previous experience includes managing editor positions at Congressional Quarterly, where oversight included daily congressional coverage and economic policy, as well as a news editor role at Copley News Service. Toby's career began in reporting with outlets such as the Indianapolis Business Journal and the Peoria Journal Star. Toby holds an M.A. in Writing from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Journalism from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
