Michael Torrence has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Michael began their career in 1988 as a Support and Product Manager at Scribona, where they specialized in network hardware products. Michael then moved on to a Product Manager role at Ingram Micro in 1992, where they focused on supplying the company's dealer network with IT network hardware infrastructure products. In this role, they were responsible for marketing tasks, as well as sales and training of the customer base. After leaving Ingram Micro in 1999, they joined 7-Technologies as a Technical Writer, where they worked until 2008. During their time at 7-Technologies, they honed their technical writing skills. In 2009, they had two short-term roles, first as an On-floor Customer Assistant at Irma and then as a Sales Representative at Politiken.

Michael Torrence attended Brandeis University from 1967 to 1970, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Theater and Film. Later, they pursued further education at Roskilde University from 1980 to 1985, and obtained a degree in Public planning and administration, specifically a Cand.scient.adm.
