James Williams has held a variety of roles in the biotechnology and venture capital industries. In 2020, they became a Non Executive Director at the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science. From 2011 to 2020, they served as a Non-Executive Director / Alternate Director at AdAlta Ltd, a Melbourne-based biotech company. James was also a Non Executive Director at PolyActiva from 2013 to 2020 and a Member of the Entrepreneurs' Programme Committee at the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources from 2017 to 2020. From 2015 to 2020, they served as Chairman of Dimerix Limited, a biotechnology company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. From 2009 to 2020, they were Co-Founder and Investment Director at Yuuwa Capital, a $40 million early stage venture capital firm. From 2012 to 2020, they were a Non Executive Director at Linear Clinical Research Ltd. From 2017 to 2020, they were a Director at icetana. From 2013 to 2020, they were a Non-executive Director at Nexgen Plants Pty Ltd. Finally, from 2007 to 2020, they were Chairman of Dimerix Bioscience Ltd.
James Williams completed a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Medicine from the University of Melbourne between 1991 and 1995. James then went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration - MBA from The University of Western Australia between 1999 and 2001. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) -BSc(Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Aberdeen between 1987 and 1991. In 2011, they also obtained a GAICD from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
