Mary (Katie) Bales currently serves as Vice President of Investor Relations at PolyVascular and has extensive experience in higher education and geology. As a Course Developer at Triton College, Mary (Katie) developed an online geology course and served as a subject matter expert. Additionally, Mary (Katie) has taught Earth Science courses as an Adjunct Professor and has held various roles in the education sector, including Educational Learning Labs Teaching Assistant at the Museum of Science and Industry, and Geology Instructor at Northern Illinois University. With a strong background in geoscience internships at ExxonMobil and Denbury Resources Inc., and leadership in educational programs focused on minority representation in STEM, Mary (Katie) holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Geophysics from Texas A&M University.

Children born with congenital heart defects may require frequent surgeries that prevent them from living their lives to the fullest. PolyVascular provides the only non-surgical pulmonary valve and delivery system suitable for children as young as 2 years old. Our minimally invasive valve reduces the need for open heart surgery and enables kids to enjoy a healthy, normal lifestyle. Current animal tissue valves often cause endocarditis, while human tissue grafts may sensitize the child's immune system. We address these limitations with our biocompatible, durable, polymer-based valve. Our valve, provided with an-easy-to-use delivery system for clinicians, is easy to manufacture at any size.
