John Borst has extensive work experience in the technology industry. John started their career as a Software Engineer at P&O Nedlloyd and Nedlloyd Computer Services, where they developed and maintained various applications and software for supply chain management and route optimization. John then joined Descartes Systems Group as a Senior Software Architect, where they designed, developed, and maintained advanced EDI processing software for the air industry.

John later worked at ORTEC as a Senior Software Engineer, specializing in developing and maintaining software for an advanced Enterprise Resource Planning system for the cement and concrete industry. John then moved on to Port infolink, where they worked as the Coordinator of Technical Application Management, overseeing ITIL processes and managing a team for the Port Community System in Rotterdam.

Currently, John is employed at Portbase as the Team Manager of Technical Support, responsible for improving information exchange and efficiency among companies in the ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam through the Port Community System.

John Borst completed their HAVO/VWO degree at Bertrand Russell from 1975 to 1983. Following this, they pursued their higher education at the University of Amsterdam from 1983 to 1988, where they earned a degree known as "Drs" in the field of Econometrics.
