Robert Baran

Founder & President at PositiveVision

Robert Baran is the founder and President of PositiveVision. He has worked in a variety of positions including system analyst, computer consultant and programmer, project manager, and division manager for a number of different consulting firms in the Chicago area. In addition, Bob’s resume includes working in the customization division of the original Platinum Software company (now part of Sage). Bob has worked on a variety of Platinum-related projects ranging from multiple site Manufacturing ERP systems to Point of Sale systems for major venue and retail chains. He has written multiple custom programs for Sales Order processing and Sales Analysis data warehouses. Prior to returning to Chicago in 1984, Bob worked with Unix-based systems for the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Bob is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and a Master's in Business Administration from Eastern. He has been trained on a variety of PC and Network-based business accounting software, manufacturing ERP, and POS systems, including Batchmaster, Platinum For Windows, Solomon, Great Plains, IndustriOs, Fourth Shift, Macola (now Exact), SYSPRO, Sage 300 ERP (formerly Sage Accpac), Sage 50 U.S. Accounting (formerly Peachtree Accounting), Infor, and Infor's ION technology, Maynard, and SBT.
