Gillian Coutts has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Gillian began their career at Shell in 1993 as a Property and Project Manager. Gillian then worked at SOCOG: Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games in 1998 in a role related to Venue Logistics. Following that, they joined David Jones as part of the Supply Chain team from 1998 to 2005. In 2005, Coutts moved to RailCorp as a Manager of Strategic Projects and Business Planning before transitioning to Pacific Brands in 2006 as the Head of Operations & Wholesale Sales Manager for the Sheridan brand. Gillian joined Uniting in 2005, where they served as a Board Member and Deputy Chair from 2013 to 2018. In 2012, they became the Country Director, Speaker, and Author at Potential Project - Focused Minds, Organizational Excellence. Most recently, they served as the Chairperson at War Memorial Hospital from 2019 to 2020.

Gillian Coutts has a diverse education history. In 2013, they completed the Company Directors Course at AICD, focusing on Governance. In 2008, they attended the Melbourne Business School Mt Eliza, where they completed the Advanced Executive Development Program with a specialization in Management and Leadership.
