Chad Holcomb

Chad Holcomb has had a diverse and extensive work experience. Chad started their career as an Electrical Engineering Intern at IBM in 1998, where they focused on bench testing and qualification of A2D and D2A converters. Chad then joined Plug Power in 1999 as a Test and Development Intern, conducting testing on developmental fuel cells and building test stations.

In 2004, Chad worked at Solar Turbines as a Sr. Principal Design Engineer, where they specialized in fuel system design, algorithm development, gas turbine combustion and performance analysis, and logic development. Chad also worked on dynamic modeling and control design.

From 2012 to 2015, Chad served as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC San Diego while pursuing their Ph.D. In this role, they collaborated with Solar Turbines Inc. and UCSD on model-based diagnostics and control for gas turbine applications.

Returning to Solar Turbines in 2016, Chad took on the role of a Consulting Analytics Development Engineer. Chad'sresponsibilities included machine data analysis, diagnostic and prognostic algorithm development and testing, evaluation of analysis platforms and machine learning tools, and translation of algorithms and methods into prototype code sets for handoff to production integration.

Most recently, Chad has been working at PowerFlex since 2019. Chad started as a Technical Lead - Microgrids and later transitioned into the role of Director - Hardware Products in November 2022. Unfortunately, no end dates are provided for these positions, so their current employment status is unknown.

Chad Holcomb completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they studied from 1996 to 2001. Chad then pursued further education at UC San Diego, where they earned their Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Control Theory from 2001 to 2003. Chad Holcomb continued their academic journey at UC San Diego and received their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from 2012 to 2015.
