Christian Michael has a diverse work experience spanning various engineering roles and positions. Christian started their career as a Teaching Assistant at Stony Brook University, where they assisted with grading assignments and exams, proctoring exams, and aiding students. Christian then worked as a Resident Assistant, responsible for the safety and well-being of residents within the building and quad. Additionally, they served as an Office Assistant, where they completed assessments of residence hall buildings and assisted residents with housing issues.
Following their time at Stony Brook University, Christian joined Walter T. Gorman, P.E., P.C. as an Electrical Engineering Intern/Field Engineer, working on notable projects such as Marriott Hotel, Under Armour Inc., and Amazon.com Inc. Christian later became an Assistant Project Manager/Assistant Electrical Engineering Designer, contributing to projects for major companies.
From 2018 to 2021, Christian worked at SunCommon, starting as a Solar Site Survey Engineer/Residential Designer. In this role, they used AutoCAD to create site plans and system layouts, conducted full engineering surveys, and designed solar power system details. Christian also gained knowledge and understanding of various software and code regulations. Christian was later promoted to Senior Electrical Engineer, where they served as the primary residential design engineer and trained new engineers.
Most recently, Christian joined Freedom Forever as a Construction Engineer IV, focusing on energy storage and ground-mounted systems. Christian'sresponsibilities included designing using AutoCAD, performing engineering calculations, and creating electrical drawings for residential photovoltaic and energy storage system designs.
In September 2022, Christian will begin a new role as a Project Engineer II at PowerFlex.
Christian Michael attended Arlington High School from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a High School Diploma with honors in Math and English. Afterward, they enrolled at Stony Brook University from 2014 to 2018 and earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Christian also obtained several certifications. In November 2018, they received a Remote Airman sUAS certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. At Stony Brook University, they acquired certifications in various areas, including being a Resident Assistant Conference Speaker (October 2016), completing Safe Space Training (September 2016), participating in the JUST SERVE Program (April 2016), completing the Red Watch Band program (March 2016), attending the Leadership Institute (February 2016), and taking part in the LEAD program (March 2015). Furthermore, Christian obtained a Fire Guard certification from the New York City Fire Department in January 2016.
