James Jamal Thomas, PhD, is an experienced grid interconnection professional with a strong background in project development, including interconnection and solar site selection. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, James graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, followed by a Master of Science and a PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology, focusing on power system dispatch optimization algorithms. With roles spanning from Electronic Equipment Lab Assistant to Principal Engineer at PowerGEM, LLC, James has a diverse range of experience in the energy sector. Currently, James enjoys day hikes in the Rocky Mountains and spending time with family.
