Jose Vilson

Jose Vilson, PhD, is an accomplished educational leader with extensive experience in various roles within the education sector. As the Executive Director and Co-Founder of EduColor since 2014, Vilson specializes in educational leadership, community organizing, activism, and online advocacy. In addition to this role, Vilson serves on the Board of Directors for PowerMyLearning and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, where responsibilities include advising senior leadership and leading policy and advocacy initiatives. As a Senior Advisor for New Markets Venture Partners, Vilson supports investments in evidence-based edtech and workforce technology. With a writing presence at Edutopia and a self-employed consulting venture, JLV Works LLC, Vilson contributes to educational discourse. Recently graduated with a PhD from Teachers College, Columbia University, Vilson's academic research focuses on equity, diversity, and education policy. Previous experience includes teaching mathematics and data analysis for the NYC Department of Education and serving as a director on the Board of the Center for Teaching Quality.
