John Carmen

John Carmen is a dynamic science educator with extensive experience in academia and project management. As an Assistant Professor at Big Sandy Community and Technical College and previously at Northern Kentucky University and Aurora University, John has taught a variety of biology courses using student-centered techniques. Research experience includes a position as a Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where John investigated regulatory mechanisms in Blastomyces dermatitidis, and as a Research Assistant at the University of Kentucky, focusing on Toxoplasma gondii. In recent roles, John served as Associate Project Manager and Project Manager at PPD. Educational qualifications include a BA in English Language and Literature, a Master's in Microbiology from Brigham Young University, a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University. John is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of the Cumberlands.
