Benjamin B. Kaplan has held a variety of positions in the business world, beginning in 1995 as an intern for U.S. senator Mark O. Hatfield. In 1997, they worked as a researcher for the National Bureau of Economic Research, a speechwriter for the Chief Economist at Nasdaq, a case writer for Harvard Business School, and a researcher for the U.S. Department of Commerce's Advanced Technology Program. From 2000 to 2005, Kaplan was a spokesperson and consultant for Sallie Mae, delivering free scholarship workshops across the U.S. During this time, they also worked as an education columnist for The Oregonian/OregonLive.com, which was later syndicated to other publications. In 2009, Kaplan became a consultant and advisory board member for the "Keeping College Within Reach" web initiative, supporting and advising state 529 college saving plans in Illinois, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas. In 2013, they founded and became CEO of PR Hacker, the world's most data-driven PR agency. In 2017, Kaplan founded and became CEO of National Today, a media platform that leverages online, social, and broadcast channels to help consumers celebrate holidays. Finally, in 2019, they became CEO of TOP, a global agency network comprised of nine unique agencies with boots on the ground in 20+ countries.
Benjamin B. Kaplan attended South Eugene High School from 1991 to 1995. Benjamin B. then went on to Harvard University, where they graduated with an A.B. Magna Cum Laude in Economics in 2001.
