Jim Hansen's work experience includes:
- Senior Software Engineer at Practical Computer Applications from November 2011 to present. Jim developed and optimized "Smart Client" applications, working as a full stack engineer in the entire development cycle.
- Managing Owner of T.Y.N.H.O. LLC from February 2008 to November 2011. Jim oversaw the development of various software solutions for different projects, including sales, invoicing, inventory tracking, and event planning.
- Engineer at Parker Pnuetronics from July 2006 to June 2007. Jim supervised hardware and software testing for a high-speed autonomous syringe-based Liquid Chromatography auto-sampler, and also developed firmware for a digitally controlled multi-port air pressure regulator.
- Senior Software Quality Engineer at ABI from January 2000 to September 2005. Jim played a key role in standardizing defect tracking systems and administering database back-ends for mass spectrometers.
- Graduate Student Research Assistant at MIT from September 1997 to August 1999, where they pursued a master's degree in Toxicology with the Bioengineering and Environmental Health Division.
- SQA Engineer at Microsoft from June 1993 to July 1995, where they were responsible for quality assurance for PowerPoint 4.0 and developed an automated script management tool.

Jim Hansen completed their Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the years 1989 to 1993. Jim then pursued a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University in the years 1995 to 1996. Following this, Jim Hansen went back to MIT and obtained a Master of Science in Toxicology from 1997 to 2000.
