Uma Ranade has a diverse work experience. In 2010, they interned at CNN IBN News Channel as a trainee journalist, where they worked on notable cases and assisted in the production of a weekly show. In 2011, they worked as an assistant director in the Marathi film industry. From 2011 to 2013, they were an assistant lecturer at the College of Applied Sciences. In 2014, they worked as a visiting lecturer at Sophia College and in production at Infinitum Production. Uma then became a visiting lecturer at St. Xavier's College in 2015, eventually taking on the role of Head of Department in 2016. In 2018, they served as a content team lead at Pratham Education Foundation and also worked as an actor in a Marathi film called "What's Up Lagna."

Uma Ranade completed their Bachelor of Arts in Sociology-Psychology at St. Xavier's College from 2004 to 2009. Uma then pursued a Master of Arts in Media and Cultural Studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences from 2009 to 2011.
