Janis Mitchell

Founder & CEO at Precise Resource

After succeeding in the crucible of the IT security space, Janis recognized the need for businesses to recruit critical technical talent. But as an employer herself, she recognized the deeper need to find the right person for the right job—the first time.

In creating a proprietary approach to recruiting, and in starting Precise Resource, CEO Mitchell combined the technical matching techniques with a subtler, more complex psychological model creating a higher success rate of finding and capturing critical leadership talent for executive hire.

As her second technical start up, Precise Resource allows Mitchell to enjoy other pursuits, including her long standing reputation for pioneering the national discussion and legislative leadership on dyslexia, as well as be a mentor to a growing audience of young female entrepreneurs who look to her leadership and experience. Mitchell always been up for a challenge. If someone tells her she can’t do something, she’ll do it and she’ll succeed. Though dyslexic and struggled with learning disabilities throughout her entire life, Mitchell jumped into an industry, which was thought of as dominated by males; Mitchell leaped right in the game and made her mark.

For three years Mitchell lobbied the State of Ohio to screen children who are at risk for dyslexia and reading issues. It was through her tedious and tenacious efforts she was able to get HB 96 passed through both the Ohio House and Senate unopposed, ultimately passing the bill into law in December of 2011.

Mitchell has been honored by U.S. Small Business Administration as Small Business Person of the Year for Central Ohio, and by the National Association of Women Business Owners as one of the organization’s 2005 Visionary Award winners, Janis Mitchell is a serial entrepreneur. Most recently she founded Precise Resource, Inc., an Executive Search and Technical recruiting firm that specializes in providing talent resource management, for Fortune 500 companies to rising small businesses.

Mitchell founded Precise Resource after 15 years of successful entrepreneurial endeavors in the technology industry. She previously founded Info Fortress Solutions, a provider of complex IT security, identity access management and communication solutions for large corporations. Info Fortress Solutions implemented the nation’s first security assertion mark-up language (SAML) and cross-country authentication technology in the financial services industry. SAML is an XML-based framework for exchanging authentication and authorization information that allows a variety of Web resources through one Web portal, eliminating the need for multiple log-ins and passwords.

In 2000, Mitchell founded Info Fortress Solutions the first in the world to deliver Cross Company single sign on with SAML protocol, which she then sold to Betrusted, a global provider of security trust services. Under the acquisition, she served as president of Betrusted Consulting for the Americas, managing the professional services group domestically.
