Associate Data Engineer at PrecisionHawk

Aiken Small has extensive work experience in environmental and geographic data analysis. They are currently working as an Associate Data Engineer at PrecisionHawk since July 2019. Prior to that, Aiken worked as an Environmental Specialist at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality from March 2016 to July 2019. Aiken also has experience as a Visiting Scientist in the Air Toxics Assessment Group at the US Environmental Protection Agency from September 2015 to December 2015. They have academic experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UNC-Charlotte Department of Geography & Earth Sciences from January 2013 to May 2015, where they led undergraduate students in earth science labs and assisted professors in class preparation and grading. Aiken also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at UNC-Charlotte Laboratory for Remote Sensing and Environmental Change from August 2014 to January 2015, where they conducted research on disease infection and wildfire burn severity using aerial images and mapping software.

Aiken Small completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Meteorology from North Carolina State University from 2007 to 2011. Later, from 2013 to 2015, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Earth Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
