Ambassador Douglas Lute is the current Chair for International and Defense at BGR Group and serves as a member of the Senior Military Advisory Group at the United States Institute for Peace. They were appointed as the United States Ambassador to NATO by President Obama and held the position from 2013 to 2017, addressing significant security challenges in Europe. A retired lieutenant general, Douglas served 35 years in the U.S. Army, including notable roles such as Director of Operations on the Joint Staff and in U.S. Central Command. They hold degrees in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and National Security Affairs from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Throughout their career, they have received numerous awards and are actively involved in various advisory and board roles in prominent organizations.
