Launched in 2009, the President’s Young Professionals Program (PYPP) is one of Liberia’s most competitive innovations for youth leadership development in Liberia's civil service. The PYPP recruits, trains, and prepares young promising, and talented Liberian college graduates for a future in public service.
In the short term, PYPs provide additional support to the government and private sector institutions by performing a variety of critical tasks as needed. The Organization's long-term goal is to create the next generation of qualified professionals who are able and committed to working for the Government of Liberia (GoL), thereby increasing public sector capacity and contributing to good governance and strong leadership. The two-year fellowship includes a strong training and mentoring component, pairing each young professional with a Fellow or other mentor within the host entity as well as offering a monthly professional training program, one-on-one training and evaluation, and a monthly stipend.
The Organization's continued growth is marked by the investments of new donors and partners, ensuring its long-term viability and establishment as Liberia’s premier civil service training initiative. The PYPP is currently a non-profit organization in a public-private partnership with the government of Liberia.
